Even Kartell counts the hours to Christmas and since last November, after the submission AM on the last Salone del Mobile in Milan, is selling its first watch Wall, Tick. A “box” transparent square, 30 cm per side, with Roman numerals etched on the surface that encloses a flat dial, available in three versions (white, black or chrome), on which stands a pair of thin colored hands, for a summary color that turns time into an aesthetic experience. Tic Tac is a watch with thicknesses, which create light effects and reflections.
The case is built in ABS (A polymer) while the dial in PMMA ( acrylic resin thermoplastic obtained by the polymerization of free methacrylate), Kartell-style, clear or colored, for just over three pounds.
The unmistakable hand of Philippe Starck is emphasized by the logo and the hands from orange, color designer fetish. In fact, the ‘object is designed to duet with Eugeni Quillet, now inseparable from Starck, having collaborated with, among other projects, the beautiful collection of chairs and outdoor seating for the brand Dedon.
With a clock, Kartell wants to fill a field of design that has not treated but has recently risen to prominence thanks to the ideas, for example, of another brand of Italian design: Diamonds & Domeniconi, which is enjoying great success presenting to the most important international design.
